Meet Q,
CEO & Founder
Hi there! I’m Shequeta “Q” Boyce, the baker and owner of Haywood & Evans, a home-based bakery located in Dallas, TX.
People often ask where the name Haywood & Evans comes from, and I’m always happy to share the story.
The name represents the foundation of where my love for baking began. My family is from Haywood County in Brownsville, Tennessee, and Evans Street is where my maternal great-grandmother lived — the very home we would visit often growing up. I have the fondest memories of waking up to the fresh smell of biscuits made from scratch in her kitchen almost every morning.
While in my hometown of Decatur, Illinois, I spent countless afternoons with my maternal grandmother as she prepared for Sunday and holiday dinners. While my cousins played outside, I was always right there in the kitchen, watching her every move as she crafted cakes from scratch. Her famous pound cake — and my personal favorite, German Chocolate Cake — are memories I’ll always cherish.
The lessons I learned from both my great-grandmother and grandmother shaped my passion for baking. In creating Haywood & Evans, I wanted to honor their legacy and keep our family traditions alive through every cake, cupcake, and sweet treat I make.
Haywood & Evans is more than a bakery — it’s a tribute to family, tradition, and the memories that inspire every bite. I’m proud to share a piece of that history with you.
Welcome to Haywood & Evans!
